Woodland Management

Practical on-site work remains an integral part of our work. Whether you are a nature reserve or estate owner, a developer requiring ecological mitigation works to discharge planning conditions, or simply want to make your small plot better for wildlife, we have both the expertise and practical skills to help. We are fully insured and hold the relevant NPTC and first aid qualifications required to ensure that works are carried out safely & efficiently. Our team of working horses can undertake work on the most sensitive of sites but, if larger plant machinery is required, we can call upon specialist machine operators who are experienced in working on ecologically sensitive sites.

We provide:

  • Nature Reserve Management

  • Small Woodland Management (coppicing & coppice restoration, selective thinning, track/ride maintenance, ancient woodland restoration)

  • Hedgelaying (all regional styles)

  • Tree & hedgerow planting

  • Heathland management/restoration

  • Meadow and grassland management

  • Scrub clearance

  • Site infrastructure (eg. bridges, boardwalks, gates)

  • Provision of contract nature reserve wardens, rangers & group leaders

Conservation Advice

As a society, we are becoming increasingly aware of the continued decline in biodiversity and the collective responsibility we share in addressing this. With a background in wildlife conservation and running species conservation projects across the breadth of the UK, Pete is well placed to provide constructive and pragmatic conservation advice. Whether you are a company looking to improve your green credentials, a private nature reserve owner confused as to where to start, or a farmer/landowner looking for sources of funding for sensitive land management, we are well placed to help.

We can provide:

  • Preparation of Nature Reserve Management Plans (we can implement them too!)

  • Preparation of Biodiversity Action Plans (for habitats and species)

  • Biodiversity Audits & Appraisals (how 'wildlife friendly' is your site?)

  • Long-term Ecological Monitoring Strategies

  • Preparation of Countryside Stewardship applications

  • Woodland Management Plans & applications for Felling Licences

We are always interested in helping with ecological and wildlife based research projects. If you have a project that you would like help with, please give us a call.
